Sufficient storage available.
Before installing MB Smart, the Chromebook needs to be enrolled in TAG's Enterprise Account.
2.1 Create an Account:
In the portal, click "Open Account."
Enter the link code, security PIN, and user details.
Have the user accept the terms and submit the form.
Locate the user in the Portal.
2.2 New TAG Chrome Portal:
To provision a Chromebook, a G Suite account is required. TAG provides a nonprofit G Suite account for this.
2.3 Creating a G Suite Account:
Go to the TAG Admin site and select Chromebook from the Portals menu.
Click Create an Account and choose:
License for New Accounts or
Add License for Existing Accounts
Enter the required details:
Use a unique phone number (create the @tag.org email for Chromebook login).
Set a password (8+ characters) (used for Chromebook login).
Click Create Payment Link and process the $40 license fee.
After payment, you will be redirected to the portal.
Confirm the payment by clicking Check Payment.
Search for the device by name or email to manage it.
Note: If a password is forgotten, it cannot be retrieved, only reset. Changes may take 30+ minutes to apply.
2.4 Enterprise Enrollment
The Chromebook must be enrolled with the TAG account. Otherwise, it can be reset to factory settings.
Powerwash (reset) the device unless it’s brand new. (Warn users that this deletes downloaded files.)
From the sign-in screen, press Ctrl + Alt + Shift + R → Click Restart → Follow prompts.
Select Enterprise Enrollment or press Ctrl + Alt + E.
Log in with the @tag.org email (phone number + @tag.org).
The device is now locked to this account with filtering settings applied.
2.5 Logging Into a Personal Gmail Account
If Gmail access is blocked, the user is logged in with the organization's email.
Click the user icon in the top-right corner.
Select Add Another Account and log in.
Switch accounts via the Account dropdown.
Create a bookmark: Gmail personal inbox or manually save it.
Enable Offline Mode for Gmail:
If unavailable, disable offline mode in Google Drive settings under the @tag.org account.
Portal:
Upgrade to Pro.
Email:
The customer receives an email asking them to accept the new charge.
Chromebook Setup:
Go to Chrome > Extensions and make sure the MB Extension is present.
Open the MB Smart app (must open in Chrome).
Tap "Register Device Extension" to complete the setup.
Adjust other settings on the MB portal as needed.
Downgrade
To downgrade to Basic, send a message on Slack #mb-smart.
⚠️ Use with Caution! Deprovisioning a Chromebook removes its license. To re-enroll, a new $40 license is required; even by mistake, you will have to pay for another license
After a Powerwash, all local data is permanently lost.
Once the Check Successful message appears, you can reset the device.
To reset Chrome OS:
Sign out of all accounts.
Press Ctrl + Alt + Shift + R → Click Restart.
4.1 Deprovisioning on TAG's admin website
Click on Portals > Chromebook
In the search box, introduce the user's ID
On the left side, click on Devices
There, you should see the deprovision option
