The MDM for Mac requires macOS 10.15+. However,
The DNS only works for Safari from version 11.0+.
For Chrome, it works from 10.15+.
Single User Only: You can have only one user on the device; all others, including guests, must be removed.
No other MDM, VPN, DNS, or Proxy profiles.
Sufficient storage available.
2.1 Create an Account:
In the portal, click "Open Account."
Enter the link code, security PIN, and user details.
Have the user accept the terms and submit the form.
Locate the user in the Portal.
2.2 Enroll the Mac:
In the Main tab, send the Mac Enrollment Profile (not the DNS profile!) to the customer’s email.
On the Mac, open the email, download the profile, and install it via Settings > Profiles.
Click ENROLL when prompted.
2.3 Finalize Setup:
Delete the profile file after installation to prevent unauthorized removal.
Enable the filter in the Portal, restart the Mac, and wait for synchronization. (May take 10-20 minutes in some cases.)
Profile "Error": Unlock the enrollment twice on the MB portal and send a new profile
Portal:
Upgrade to Pro.
Email:
The customer receives an email asking them to accept the new charge.
Mac Setup:
Ensure Chrome is Installed: If Chrome is missing, remove the MDM, install Chrome, and then reinstall the MDM Profile.
Go to Chrome > Extensions and make sure the MB Extension is present.
Set Chrome as the default browser: Apple menu > System Settings > Desktop & Dock > Set Chrome as the Default Web Browser.
Open the MB Smart app (must open in Chrome).
Tap "Register Device Extension" to complete the setup.
Restrict Safari Usage: Since Safari does not support image filtering, go to the Restrictions tab on the Portal > Safari Preferences and enable:
"Remove Safari Images"
"Disable Safari JavaScript"
Adjust other settings as needed.
Downgrade
To downgrade to Basic, send a message on Slack #mb-smart.
MacOS:
Go to System Settings > General > Device Management.
Locate the profile and copy the last case-sensitive characters from the name (after:::).
Portal:
Click on the Main tab, and put the code you just copied into the Profile Removal Code Gen field,
A removal code (all capital letters) will be generated. (If not all caps, try again.)
MacOS:
Inside System Settings > General > Device Management press the minus (-) button and insert the generated code. (If the Mac has a separate passcode you may need that too.)
